The Art and Practice of Family Constellations

We at Family Constellations have been training therapists in the art and practice of Family Constellations since 2008. This is a suitable training for Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers in enabling you to be able to work more effectively with individuals, couples and families, in groups or workshops or individual sessions. The course is based in Brisbane 4 km from the CBD and is designed so that people in other locations can come for 3 days at a time to do each module.
Course outlines:
Year one Outline:
Year One comprises of 13 days of experiential training and the complete two year training is 30 days of training -200 hours in all.
N.B. Students of the course may do year one only and start practicing Family Constellations and/or complete year two in deepening their knowledge, experience and competency.
The purpose of this course is to give you the skills and knowledge to recognize and work with the underlying systemic dynamics of relationships and family systems in support of healthy relationships. You will gain knowledge, skills and experience in dealing with Family of origin and present family or relationships issues, in both workshop or seminars and also private sessions. This consists of highly experiential, learning, course notes and reading.
This is a solution focused, energetic and experiential modality that involves brief intervention that may stand alone, or be incorporated in longer traditional therapy.
Course outline for year One.
The course comprises three modules of three days each plus four public workshop days giving a total of 13 days
- Module one Family of Origin
- Module two Present family
- Module three Private sessions
- Four public workshops days
Module one involves learning about and exploring the dynamics of Family of origin and its impact on individuals and family patterns with the aim of finding the best solution for the client.
Module two involves learning about and exploring the systemic dynamics of present day relationships with the aim of finding the best solution for the client.
Module three involves bringing the knowledge from modules one and two into private sessions.
Private sessions theory, demonstration and practice.
Attendance Times
Each of the teaching modules 1,2 and 3 start at 9.30 and finish at 4.30pm and the public workshop days’ times are 9 am till 5 pm. There is morning and afternoon break tea break and a lunch period of 45 minutes.
Teaching Methodology
The teaching involves teaching, discussion and experiential work involving looking at the dynamics of volunteers in the group and attendance to public Family Constellations
workshops.
Personal Development
Having the opportunity to do your own family constellation and your own present family or situation, to reveal your own family dynamics and entanglements in order to be more present and conscious as a facilitator in your own personal life and hence your work with clients.

Duration 76 hours over 13 days of training.
Course Content
The course is composed of theoretical and extensive experiential learning.

- Ethical considerations for clients, client’s family, participants in the group and the facilitator.

- Recognizing the wide range of family dynamics that individuals are born into.

- The effects of a healthy strong or entangled father on the system.
- The effects of war, migration, miscarriage, abortions, bankruptcy, tragic early deaths of children.
- Family dynamics, parenting, couples.

- How dynamics are passed down generations.

Yildiz’s Teaching experience
Yildiz Sethi is the leading presenter with Satish Sethi supporting (Satish has written 22 computer courses and worked as a Professional Trainer for Computer Associates, Panasophic, NRMA, QANTAS and Tangent). Yildiz has 15 years of high school teaching experience and 7 years of adult educating at ACAP (Australian College of Applied Psychology) and has been delivering Family Constellations training to counsellors and psychotherapists since 2008. She is a highly experienced trainer who encourages active interaction and participation along with respect and confidentiality within her groups, leading to an enjoyable, effective and active learning environment.
